Company Notes
Milestones & Achievements
4,000+ companies in consensus
We crossed a tremendous milestone in August with over 4,000 companies now under coverage. This is truly a company-wide effort from contributor relations, onboarding, data ops, product, engineering support, sales and more. This comes 11 months after crossing the 3,000 company threshold in September 2018 and 2,000 in September 2017.
The Data Ops team actually added ~1,150 companies over 11 months, but 155 companies were dropped during this period due to M&A, reorgs, brokers dropping coverage, etc.
We also now have models on over 10,300 companies, and over the last two years, we have gone from seven models per covered company to 9.65 models per covered company.

Increasing coverage in Europe
Scott Rosen will be going on a European sell-side roadshow in October. One area of focus will be on Scandinavia. In addition, we have been leveraging our global and emerging European client base to reach brokers.
Competitor News
Bloomberg offers payment for exclusivity
Sanford Bernstein will no longer be contributing models to Visible Alpha as of November 6. Bloomberg is compensating them for an exclusive distribution arrangement, and while Bernstein recognizes this will anger some of their clients, they are under intense revenue and cost pressure, and felt they needed to make that deal.
While we believe this is an isolated incident, we will work to ensure it stays that way. We have an amazing product and will be looking to increase the exposure we give clients to their brokers, both within the platform as well as through outreaches to new and existing brokers. We are a great partner to our contributors, and our best response to this challenge is to continue to improve and accelerate.

Great Reviews
While gathering some intel for marketing on how quant funds view Visible Alpha, a user at WorldQuant said:
“I wouldn’t consider you as an alternative data provider, mainly because of where the data is coming from, which is the banks. We tend to think of alternative data as coming from non-traditional sources (think location data, credit card, website traffic). I would place you in the bucket with Bloomberg, Reuters, Factset because of your estimates product, and assuming you can get the KPIs right, you’ll be in a very strong position to be better than those 3.”
