In May 2023, Lightspeed Commerce (NYSE, TSX: LSPD), a Canadian point-of-sale (POS) and payments company announced its unified payments initiative, combining the company’s payments platform Lightspeed Payments with its flagship POS products: Lightspeed Retail and Lightspeed Restaurant. With the company announcing the global rollout of its unified platform in October, analysts expect the company to see its payments revenue surge, accounting for a larger share of the company’s total revenue.
In fiscal year 2023, Lightspeed generated $400 million in net payments sales, accounting for 55% of the company’s total net sales. By 2026, analysts expect this share to grow to 70%. Software, which used to be the company’s largest revenue-generating segment until 2021 is expected to account for 27% of total net sales by 2026, while hardware is estimated to account for the remaining 3%. In the forecast period, Lightspeed is projected to see net payments sales surge, growing by 36% year over year to $545 million in 2024, and continuing to see solid growth through FY 2026.
